The Fourth Blog of Christmas Is All About The Songs
One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is the music, I absolutely saturate myself with Christmas music. I play it in the car where I have three stations on my Sirius satellite radio and two locals preset, I listen at home on my satellite TV, its on constantly after Thanksgiving if not a little before. I really like the old standards, Bing Crosby’s White Christmas, Elvis with Silver Bells or Blue Christmas, Nat King Cole, oh I could go on and on. But my favorite of all time is The Little Drummer Boy sung by The Vienna Boy’s Choir, I don’t know why but ever since I was a child this was my favorite. I am not big on remakes, my son and I were putting together a play list for a Girl Scout dance that he was doing the music for me at and he had me listen to a few new Christmas remakes by Brittany Spears and Jewel, I wasn’t impressed, I guess I’m just a sucker for the classics.
On the other hand a new song will come around now and then that I just love, and this year I heard such a tune. I was listening to my Sirius and what sounded like The Twelve Days of Christmas came on but as I was listening I realized the lyrics had changed. When I looked at the little title screen to my amazement it read The Twelve Pains of Christmas. It was a good thing I had just parked in my driveway because I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes, the longer I listened the funnier it got. I found this wonderful song on You Tube also and I highly recommend giving it a listen, make sure to listen to the whole thing as it starts to change and get better as it goes on. It truly reflected all the holiday stresses and things that bother so many of us this time of year.
