The Twelfth Blog Of Christmas Is About Holiday Gatherings

Here it is, the last of the twelve blogs, I don’t feel relieved, I had thought I might but I have really enjoyed doing this. It has been a nice opportunity to share some of my families and my own craziness during this special time of year. Holiday gatherings is the way I wanted to go with this one, I guess because right now I am enjoying Christmas Eve with my family. Now not all gatherings are looked forward to, some people have in laws and extended families that they just dread seeing. On this point I have my own cross to bear but I refuse to send this blog into a spiraling rant on certain relatives, its what I feel is one of the true tests of our Christmas spirit, the ability to grin and bear it or at least put aside our differences for the few hours we really have to be in the company of people we don’t usually want to be with. I for one am not willing to spoil the good vibe of today.

This is what I have been working towards, the day of day’s, the food, the family, nothing left to do but relax and enjoy. I know a lot of time has been spent talking of presents and shopping but when people say “its not about the gifts” this is what “IT” is they are talking about. The comfort of family, the warmth of love, caring and giving and the peace of just relaxing in the presence of people who know you and don’t care how much you suck. It all goes by in a flash and you can be left feeling somewhat sad and depressed when its done because you spend so much time working towards a couple short days that just fly by, but what I have tried to tell my son and my daughter is live in the moment, savor each hour and just be happy you are lucky enough to have people and a place to call home.

That said I want to wish everyone the most enjoyable of holiday gatherings whatever your beliefs and traditions celebrate them to the fullest, take advantage of every moment and most of all be happy. I will be back after my own Merry Christmas.
