All Hail Roomba

I never thought I would be the kind of person to own a robotic vacuum, I mean I’ve seen them and said “ooh I gotta get me one of those” but they seemed the things of rich folk. Before Christmas my son received a gift from his lady friend Courtney, she is a huge blogger and has won a couple Roomba’s in Pay Per Post contests and such. Well she sent one to my son as a gift. At first I thought it was a nice gesture but it was his and its such a little thing it would only be useful in his room where there is low nap carpet and not near as much animal hair as on the main floor.

Wow was I mistaken! This thing is amazing! I have mostly hardwood except for a thick black rug in my living room and I have come to hate this rug. I have a white dog and on a daily basis I can spend half an hour or more trying to get the dog hair off this thing. I mean you would swear the animal should be bald if you saw this rug, its horrible. I would always tell people I had to get to the vacuuming ‘cuz the dog blew up! Well I tried the Roomba on it and I had to use the battery RF walls to contain it to the area because I think it also feared the rug, it would go all the way around it then escape to the kitchen. So with walls in place I let it go, and boy did it. On the normal clean cycle it took about twenty minutes (and two clean outs) and the rug looked phenomenal, and what was I doing? Not vacuuming, I could wash dishes, make lunch, whatever, and the job was getting done.

I have fallin’ deeply in love with this new machine and am seriously looking into there other robotic appliances namely the scooba which scrubs floors, with all the hard floors my mopping chore would also come to a fantastic end. The only problem I will have is when my son moves, if he thinks I’m gonna let him take it without a fight he has another thing coming! But then again my birthday is not far off a new Roomba would make a wonderful gift. Hint, hint
