Many Things Happening This Week

This has been such a busy week, I have been cleaning the house and shopping for new curtains (finally ordered some) in anticipation of the new living room furniture, which is being delivered Friday. I have been trying to read Duma Key, it is so good so far, over the weekend my son and I redid the whole office with brand new matching glass desks so we have this huge gorgeous work center now, and tomorrow I am going to the doctor to quit smoking. I have been putting off my New Years resolution a little, getting over a sinus thing and my tooth problems, now that I am feeling healthier I am ready to give it a try. I have wanted to quit for a while now for my kids and for my future health and also because its just plain annoying. For example I have to smoke outside all day and todays temperature is a balmy -11 with a wind thats making it feel like -25 (we call it windchill here in the great north) so every time I feel the urge to smoke I have to weigh it against my desire not to freeze to death, and I also don’t want my new furniture turning all stinky and yellowy (is that a word?). I think it sometimes controls my life and I am kind of a control freak so I can’t stand the idea of something having that kind of control over me.

I heard from a friend of mine that they knew someone that had smoked for fifty years and they used this drug called Chantix to quit and it worked great, well I have been doing some research because after twenty years of smoking I want the best thing for me. I have read some pretty mixed reviews on this drug, it has some bad side effects for some people, even warnings that it could cause suicidal thoughts and unwarranted anger but it also has a strong track record for success so I think I am going to give it a whirl. One thing I have to my advantage is a very strong support system, I know my family will be here to keep an eye on how things are going for me, and I am not the depressed or suicidal type so I think its worth a try. We will see in the weeks to come I am sure I will have more to say on this subject.
