My Green Thumb Expires At The Door
As much as I love plants and spring in Minnesota and the smell of earth and flowers I have no house plants, not one. The last living thing in my house was a cactus my son gave me for mothers day like 15 years ago, I managed not to kill it for at least 11 years then it finally met the same cruel fate as all plants that have mistakenly been brought over the threshold of my home, I killed it.
I shouldn’t be this way, I spent 6 years working in a greenhouse aside from the years growing up that my mother always had plants. The crazy thing is I can grow just about anything outside, my yards have been veritable jungles, plants and paths, trees and ponds with colorful water plants, nothing can stop me outside except winter. I have grown some of the most difficult temperamental plants outside from exotic Poppies to Pasque flowers, even successful Monkshood, but if it gets in my house its a goner.
I have tried again and again and finally I have given up, I feel so sad watching them die I can’t keep doing it so the only green in our house for the last several years has been silk plants, we had a couple very nice silk trees in our office and I have used silk flowers to decorate several rooms, it gives them a warm alive feeling that you enjoy over the long dead winters.
So for any of you that are like me and just struggle to keep your house plants alive don’t fret artificial and silk plants have come a long way and can really beautify a home or office.

I feel your pain when it comes to keeping plants in your home. I can’t make a plant live no matter what I do. I over water it, I underwater it, It gets to much sunlight, it get to little sunlight. I’m not too sure why I have such back luck with living plants but I guess it’s just not meant to be…
right now I still have a bout three that are doing good but it’s not because I’m doing a good jog it’s literally because these types of plants need little or no attention all year around

Isn’t that unusual…I would have thought you would have plants all over the place…
I don’t have much of a green thumb…although I love plants/flowers…I have 4 plant in the house 3 are doing well on their own…the fourth is looking pretty sad…I love plants/flowers outside and while I try I don’t do it well…I just enjoy the colors :0)
I buy cut flowers for inside the house…they last about two weeks and then are replaced…it costs me $10.00 every two weeks so it is worth it to me!
Enjoy your day…
Cheers
I know exactly what you are sayin, in my previous house I had so many plants, in the house I am in now I can’t keep a plant alive! ACK so I have given up and just have my garden plants.
