On The Eve Of Historical Events

This could be it, this could be the day before the very first African American becomes President of the United States. Wow what a day to be alive, I will be the first to admit I spent a good portion of my youth being prejudice, call it a reflection of how and where I was raised but it took having my son Markus to make me see its about who you are, not what you look like. Among many lessons I have learned from my children that is one of the greatest and at this time one of the most important. I will vote for my very first time tomorrow and I will vote for Obama, why? Because I was able to close my eyes and hear what needed to be said, what needs to be done for us in the United States and if it takes a black man, or an Asian man or a Latino woman all that matters is what they do not how they look.

I said before “What a great day to be alive” because a very amazing thing could be happening tomorrow, the only sadness I feel about this is Obama’s Grandmother passed away today. How very sad, after all the things she must have seen through the years this day had to be so tremendous.

I remember thinking in the delivery room, just moments after my son was born, that we should treat each other a lot better. It is such a struggle to be born. We shouldn’t be killing each other in needless and endless wars all over the planet. I still remember thinking about that.

I voted for Obama also. I think he will be a great president.

I think you’re awesome. A lot of people are prejudice but refuse to admit it. Admitting the truth is the first step to change. You not only admitted it openly, but you changed. Your son’s life will be better because of it. God bless you.
