About

Welcome. My name is Sue Johnson, I am a busy mother of two and semi-professional business owner residing in Minnesota. I, unlike my children was not born here and I had the lucky advantage of spending a portion of my childhood living within a couple miles of the ocean. I have spent twenty some years in this state though so there must be something here, but it sure isn’t the snow.

I call myself a semi-professional because I have one of a few select jobs that allows me to wear sweats if I want, or go on field trips to the beach or park. I can even sit on the couch and watch a movie some days. I rarely have to get up and dress professionally for my occupation so its pretty casual. I do love my job though, all my life I have searched for employment I could even like. I went to college and spent ten years trying to enjoy what I was doing, only to start job hopping for years in search of something that not only could support my son and I, but that I didn’t wake up each morning thinking of some excuse to get out of going. In doing this over many years I have done numerous different jobs,so many it would take a page larger than this to list them all, and whats funny is I was very good at everything I tried, I learned fast and excelled at many things. So I have dubbed myself a Jill of all trades. There are few things I have not at least tried.

I do wish I had more time for hobbies, I am an avid book collector and reader, I’ve been told I am an extremely talented artist and “once upon a time” I used to write short stories. But thats one luxury you lose with age and growing responsibilities. I have no regrets though, I just intend to retire early and spend all my time reading, doing my art and writing the great American novel.

A Hand Me Down Life

I had this whole explanation planned in my mind on what the title of this site meant to me, you see it’s obviously a play on words, but after talking to my son about the title(he’s the amazing creator and resident computer guru) and the more I ran the title through my head, it had so many different ways and meanings and could be construed differently by each individual, I decided not to explain what it means to me, at least not yet. I mean why spoil it with what I think it means, why not let each reader make his or her own mind up on what they think lies behind the title? Believe me you may be surprised at what you will find here and how many different ways one simple sentence can be perceived.
